Europa – Global Work Support
Europese projecten – Global Work Support
Sinds 2001 is Rob van Maanen, directeur van FlexPay, actief betrokken bij projecten in Europa, zowel als bedenker, coördinator en ook partner. Voor deze Europese projecten is het label Global Work Support opgezet.
2018 – 2020
Het meest recente project is QUES (Quality Development of Employment Specialists). FlexPay is de coördinator van dit project. De deelnemende landen zijn: Nederland, Duitsland, Portugal, Litouwen en Slovenië.
This project aims to improve the competencies of employment specialists of VET-providers who help persons with disabilities to tackle employment barriers. As is well known by those active in the field of work and disability, the employment chances of people with disabilities are much lower than those without a disability. Also the rate of poverty is higher, partly due to this limited access to employment. Employment specialists in many countries are putting much effort in increasing the chances on work of people with a large distance to the labour market. These employment specialists train and coach people with disabilities, helping them to develop their skills and providing guidance and support. Most employment specialists of VET-providers are professionals working as social workers, psychologists or teachers, having knowledge and experience in working with their target group, though often are lacking a proper knowledge about the business world. A better knowledge on how to network with employers and a better understanding of the employers’ perspective will help them to improve the quality of their employment services and, because of that, improve the chances for people with disabilities to enter labour market and to stay there.
The common purpose of the partners in this project is to benefit from each other’s experience in the field of how to approach employers and network with employers. Partners will come together to share their knowledge of best practices, their most effective strategies and tools, their achievements and personal experiences in the building of partnerships with employers. Partners will explore the possibilities to implement those methods and strategies that fit best to their situation, into daily practice of their organisations.
The experiences obtained in this exchange project will lead to the creation of a manual how to network successfully with employers, including ‘specific points of attention to be taken into account for a specific country’. This manual will be used by the partners for training of their employment specialists and will be disseminated to relevant stakeholder organisations during the dissemination part of the project.
To sum up, the project aims to improve competencies of employment specialists by providing them with creative and innovative tools to network successfully with employers and to build better partnership with employers, in order to increase the number of successful and sustainable placements on the labour market.
European Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion
The seminar aims to bring together elected officials and senior civil servants from participating Lithuanian cities and regions of the Alliance for Roma Inclusion. Exchanges of experience and know-how, as well as mutual learning of best practices, shall be stimulated by this event, which will require the participants to take ownership of its process and content.
The seminar has the following objectives:
- Encourage dialogue and exchange of experience
- Share best practices to learn from each other
- Create an array of proven practices to be implemented right away
- Strengthen competencies to integrate Roma into mainstream society
- Get feedback on the objectives and services of the Alliance
Background of the Activity:
The European Alliance of Cities and Regions for Roma Inclusion aims to bring together elected officials and civil servants in order to promote the exchange of their experiences and to allow them to engage in the discussion on living conditions of Roma. Its objectives are to promote the exchange of know-how on Roma inclusion between the participating authorities and to provide them with a common platform for advocating for a stronger role of the territorial dimension of Roma inclusion. In order to overcome discrimination and secure the effective access of Roma to full social rights, further political efforts on local and regional levels are necessary.
The Alliance organises a number of events for its participants in line with its goals. This will be the first Alliance National Seminar in Lithuania, after successfully organising such seminars already in France and Spain and Serbia. These seminars require the participants to take ownership of discussions and the overall process.
